Caring for the Global Environment

Denka undertakes the preservation of the global environment centered on the Responsible Care initiative being promoted by the global chemical industry. To fulfill our obligations of a chemical manufacturer, we conduct strict management to limit environmental burdens as well as strive for relentless technological innovations toward reducing resource and energy consumption.

Basic Policy

In the context of growing awareness that global environmental issues, such as global warming, threaten the survival of humanity and ecosystems, the pursuit of sustainability is seen as both a fundamental requirement for companies to fulfill their social responsibilities and sustain their business, and as an opportunity to enhance product competitiveness and create new business opportunities.
Based on this understanding, we aim to create sustainable business value as outlined in our management plan, “Mission 2030.” Our efforts are focused on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, promoting recycling of resources, and conserving the environment while minimizing environmental impact and on providing products and technologies that contribute to reducing environmental impact from the perspective of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

Fiscal 2024 Activity Policy

In line with the Management Plan “Mission 2030,” the activity policy for FY2024 implements CO₂ reductions, waste reductions, conservation of natural resources, and contribution to a circular economy.

Denka Signs Responsible Care Global Charter 2014

On December 9, 2014, Denka became a signatory to the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) Responsible Care Global Charter 2014, declaring its support of Responsible Care principles and commitment to practicing such principles alongside.

Fiscal 2022 Responsible Care (RC) Activity Policies (environment related)

In line with the Responsible Care Global Charter, we will engage in dialogue with stakeholders to accurately assess society’s expectations in addition to maintaining strict compliance and preventing environmental pollution. As our goal is to contribute to environmental conservation initiatives aimed at realizing a sustainable society, we will promote RC activities in all aspects of our business operations, ranging from raw materials procurement through manufacturing and storage to distribution to usage and disposal. In these ways, we will fulfill our social responsibilities.
