Caring for the Global Environment

Denka undertakes the preservation of the global environment centered on the Responsible Care initiative being promoted by the global chemical industry. To fulfill our obligations of a chemical manufacturer, we conduct strict management to limit environmental burdens as well as strive for relentless technological innovations toward reducing resource and energy consumption.

Basic Policies

Awareness of the importance of environmental problems such as global warming and the threat they pose to the survival of humanity and ecosystems is increasing. Under these circumstances, it goes without saying that companies must pursue sustainability to fulfill their social responsibility and continue business. At the same time, it is also an opportunity to improve the competitiveness of products and create new business opportunities.
Based on this recognition, Denka is committed to "achieving carbon neutrality by 2050," "environmental conservation and minimization of environmental impact," and "promotion of resource recycling" in order to create sustainable business value as envisioned in the "Mission 2030" management plan. In addition, we will promote "provision of products and technologies that help reduce environmental footprints from the viewpoint of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment)."  By achieving the KPIs listed for each initiative, Denka will help conserve the global environment and improve corporate value.

Activity Policy for FY2023

In accordance with our ”Mission 2030” management plan, in FY2023, Denka will formulate a reduction plan for each business site and establish a system to implement these plans with the aim of reducing CO₂ emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 60% compared to FY2013 in FY2030.

Denka Signs Responsible Care Global Charter 2014

On December 9, 2014, Denka became a signatory to the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) Responsible Care Global Charter 2014, declaring its support of Responsible Care principles and commitment to practicing such principles alongside.

Fiscal 2022 Responsible Care (RC) Activity Policies (environment related)

In line with the Responsible Care Global Charter, we will engage in dialogue with stakeholders to accurately assess society’s expectations in addition to maintaining strict compliance and preventing environmental pollution. As our goal is to contribute to environmental conservation initiatives aimed at realizing a sustainable society, we will promote RC activities in all aspects of our business operations, ranging from raw materials procurement through manufacturing and storage to distribution to usage and disposal. In these ways, we will fulfill our social responsibilities.

1. Resolve technical issues at the earliest possible date and explore new themes centering on the investigatory committee for the improvement of production technology
2. Make effective use of grant payment schemes to achieve immediate results.
