The Denka Group signed the United Nations Global Compact (hereinafter, UNGC) on June 8, 2023, and was registered as a participating company.
UNGC is the world’s largest sustainability initiative aimed at building a sound global society through collaboration between the United Nations and companies/organizations. Companies and organizations that sign the UNGC are expected to support the 10 Principles concerning "human rights," "labor," "environment," and "anti-corruption" proposed by the UNGC and make efforts to realize these principles through their business activities.
In response to issues surrounding sustainability, we established The Denka Group ESG Basic Policy as our basic policy, and are promoting three growth strategies: business value creation, human resource value creation, and management value creation in our management plan, Mission 2030. Through these efforts, we are pursuing sustainability and strengthening our management foundation. By signing the UNGC, we aim to clarify our corporate stance toward realizing a sustainable society and practice the 10 Principles proposed by the UNGC in our business activities.
The Denka Group expressed its support for the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) in September 2020 and joined the Consortium.
In July 2022, Denka became a partner of WIPO GREEN, a global platform for environmental technologies operated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The GX Future Consortium is an organization that has inherited the roles of two organizations, the TCFD Consortium, which is made up of companies and financial institutions that support the TCFD recommendations, and the GX League, which promotes voluntary emissions trading and initiatives aimed at achieving carbon neutrality in partnership with the public and private sectors. The GX Future Consortium aims to lead the implementation of GX across society as a whole and achieve a virtuous cycle of decarbonization and economic growth.
Our company has been participating in the GX Future Consortium since April 2026, and through our active participation in and contributions to these activities, we will work towards achieving carbon neutrality.
CLOMA (Clean Ocean Material Alliance) is an alliance established in 2019 that aims to accelerate innovation through collaboration among diverse companies to prevent marine pollution caused by plastic waste.
The Denka Group is leveraging its strengths in integrated manufacturing facilities and product development capabilities ranging from synthetic resin materials to polymer processing and molding to actively develop and provide new solutions that promote efficient use of plastics and reduce the burden on the global environment.
The "Partnership Building Declaration" is a declaration of the concept of building sustainable relationships in which large and small enterprises can grow together, which was proposed at the "Partnership Building Promotion Council" promoted by the Cabinet Office and the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency in collaboration with relevant economic organizations.
The Denka Group is working to build new mutually beneficial relationships while strengthening partnerships with its business partners.
In August 2024, the Company became a forum member of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), an international initiative on biodiversity.
In January 2026, we joined the 30by30 Alliance.
In order to achieve the goal of stopping and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030, we are working in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment to achieve the 30by30 goal of conserving and protecting at least 30% of our country's terrestrial and marine areas by 2030.
As of January 2026, we have been participating in the Japan Climate Initiative.
In addition to introducing our activities to participating members, we actively engage in information exchange and experience sharing to promote efforts toward achieving the 1.5°C target.
Denka collaborates with various industry groups and government authorities to address environmental and social issues. Taking into consideration the level of alignment between our management strategies and business activities and the positions of industry groups, we conduct regular reviews to determine whether any significant gaps exist. In cases where significant gaps are identified, we will propose improvements or consider withdrawing from the group, and will join industry groups that are more aligned with our policies.
