Denka expressed its endorsement of the “GX League Basic Concept” announced by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in fiscal 2022 and has announced today, on May 15, 2023, that it will participate in the “GX League” which is scheduled to go into full-scale operation from fiscal 2023.
The GX League is a group of companies that are taking on the challenge to move quickly to carbon neutrality (hereafter referred to as "CN") and driving the transformation of the entire economic and social system, including not only their own companies but also their stakeholders, and to work together as one in discussions for the transformation of the entire economic and social system and put into practice activities to create new markets together with players in industry, government, and academia taking on the challenge of GX. Denka has announced that we will achieve CN by 2050, and in our management plan, "Mission 2030", which covers the 8-year period from 2023, we are accelerating our move toward CN by 2050 by taking a step further and reducing CO₂ emissions by 60%, up from our previous KPI of a 50% reduction by 2030 (compared to 2013 levels). The decision to participate in the the GX League was made since the above initiative is in line with its objectives.
