In recent years, with the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations and the reaching of the Paris Agreement at the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) , the solving of global social issues by companies is growing in importance. At the same time, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment is also increasing in financial markets, and companies are being called upon to respond in a wide variety of ways toward achieving a sustainable society.

The Denka Group has established the Denka Group ESG Basic Policy as our basic policy to address issues pertaining to sustainability. We are also implementing the three growth strategies of business value creation, human resource value creation, and management value creation in our Mission 2030 management plan that started in fiscal year 2023 , and are striving to pursue sustainability and strengthen management foundation in our business activities.

The three growth strategies in this Mission 2030 management plan are also linked to our material issues (materiality), which are classified into two categories: “responsibility and contributing to a sustainable society,” which is linked to business value creation, and “strengthening our business foundation,” which is linked to human resource value creation and management value creation.

As for the SDGs, regarding contributing to a sustainable society , which we seek to achieve through the Mission 2030 targets, we have clarified the connection between the 17 goals of the SDGs and the targets (standards to achieve).

Furthermore, as part of respect for human rights, which is an important policy under management value creation, in 2023, we formulated the Denka Group Human Rights Policy and also signed a statement of support for the United Nations Global Compact.
