In recent years, amid a high level of uncertainty in the international situation, there is greater emphasis on the solving of global social issues by companies. At the same time, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment is also increasing in financial markets, and companies are being called upon to respond in a wide variety of ways towards achieving a sustainable society.

The Denka Group has established the Denka Group ESG Basic Policy as our basic policy to address issues pertaining to sustainability. We are also implementing the three growth strategies of business value creation, human resource value creation, and management value creation—linked to our materiality (important management issues)—in our Mission 2030 management plan that started in fiscal year 2023, and are striving to pursue sustainability and strengthen management foundation in our business activities.

As for the SDGs, regarding contributing to a sustainable society , which we seek to achieve through the Mission 2030 targets, we have clarified the connection between the 17 goals of the SDGs and the targets (standards to achieve).

In particular, as a company in the chemical industry, our efforts towards becoming carbon neutral by 2050 are not simply a fulfillment of our social responsibilities. They are indispensable for continuing our business into the future. As part of these efforts, in 2025, we will formulate our Denka GX Roadmap in response to CO₂ emissions trading becoming mandatory with the GX League from 2026, and steadily implement this roadmap.

Furthermore, to implement “Promotion of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion,” a key policy for human resource value creation, we will conduct townhall meetings and undertake other initiatives to create a workplace with a high level of psychological safety. In addition, through panel discussions with female managers, support for employees raising children together with working spouses, and other such measures, we will also create environments that allow individuals with diverse ways of thinking to demonstrate their capabilities to foster a corporate culture that allows the generation of major innovations.
